Marriages

We celebrate weddings on Saturdays at 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM. Please make arrangements at least 6 months in advance. Call 415-421-0809.

Wedding Parking: San Francisco and North Beach are frequently the scenes of weekend traffic congestion and gridlock. Plan to arrive early so that the wedding can start on time. If a serious delay occurs the priest may have to make appropriate abbreviations in the ceremony or shorten the photo session in order not to inconvenience the next wedding or the Saturday afternoon confessions or evening Mass. This applies to rehearsals as well--several rehearsals may be scheduled on the same evening.

The white zone in front of the church and the underground parking garage (entrance and exit on Powell Street) are provided for the rehearsals and wedding. Cars must be removed after the wedding ceremony to make room for the following events.

Garage parking times are:

10:30 to 12:15 for 11:00 AM weddings

12:30 to 2: 15 for 1:00 PM weddings

2:30 to 4: 15 for 3:00 PM weddings

Any overflow parking must be handled by commercial garages: (North Beach Garage 735 Vallejo St., 399-9564; Vallejo Street Garage, 766 Vallejo St., 989-4490; Gino's Parking 721 Filbert St) by valet parking, or with on-street parking where available. Even more garages in our area may be found here.

Marriage Resources

Choose Life! “Marriage needs to be strengthened, not redefined. Cohabitation, divorce, and contraception all erode marriage’s meaning as a public, total, lifelong, and fruitful communion of persons between husband and wife. The latest challenge to marriage, the proposal that sexual difference doesn’t matter, removes the very basis of marriage’s meaning as a one-flesh communion, open to children, making the definition of marriage in law (and thereby culture) open to limitless variation and ultimately meaningless.” –United States Conference of Catholic Bishops “Marriage: Unique for a Reason. One Man, One Woman, For Life.”

Ed

Our Archdiocese is blessed with a very capable and hardworking Director of the Ministry of Marriage and Family Life, Mr. Ed Hopfner. Here some resources from his office:

It's not your Grandmother's Family Planning
Natural Family Planning (NFP) is a modern method a couple can use to regulate fertility. It is based on up-to-date medical and scientific research and replaces the old ‘rhythm method’ which went out of favor in the 1950’s.  It is individualized for each couple – because every woman is unique. Family Planning can improve marriages
Natural Family Planning (NFP) has been shown to improve marriages - published studies have shown increased marital satisfaction. It also greatly improves marital communications. NFP is free after the initial training, and empowers couples by giving them highly accurate information about their own fertility, rather than relying on a third party.  Finally, NFP couples typically have extremely low divorce rates; one study of 1100 couples in CA showed a divorce rate of less than 2% over 24 years.
