Genesis 15:5–12, 17–18. Psalm 27. Philippians 3:17—4:1 or 3:20—4:1 Luke 9:28b–3. God made a covenant with Abraham, promising descendants as numerous as the stars and a home as vast as they could imagine. As wonderful as the Promised Land was, Paul teaches the Philippians that God promises us that our citizenship is in heaven, where our glorified Lord awaits. Luke reports that Peter, John, and James were able to see Jesus in glory with Moses and Elijah, dazzling on the mountaintop. May these stories open our eyes to God’s great glory and generosity.
Domenica 2A Di Quaresima

CHANGING THE NARRATIVE
TRANSFIGURATION
Changing the Narrative is a strategic communications and awareness campaign using opinion to interpret events in order to change how people think, talk, and act about those events.
When humanitarian migration corridor operations fail in the Russia-Ukraine war, some reporters tell us it is because Russians violate the terms of the ceasefire agreements. Other reporters tell us, it is the Ukrainians who fire at (their own?) people.
Some false narratives can be so convincing they become difficult to verify.
The Lenten Season prepares us to return to the Passion, Death and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus. The narratives surrounding these events point out how false narratives (or “fake news”) have condemned the Son of God to the punishment for unwelcome criminals. They continue to narrate how because of more false narratives, a whole people have convinced themselves that Jesus never really rose from the dead.
The Gospel narrative of the Lord’s Transfiguration leaves us with good advice from the heavenly Father: “LISTEN to him.” God advises us to sharpen our listening skills. In the coming days, we shall have to rely on what we’ll LISTEN to regarding the Lord Jesus. Our sight may deceive us. What we’ll see during the Passion, Death and Resurrection will not always coincide with what we’ve heard regarding the truth about the Lord Jesus. We will see God condemned, weak, suffering and dying. But faith will come from LISTENING well more than from seeing. Our listening well will lead us to truth.
If we pay close attention to the truth because of our listening, any “changing of the narrative” regarding the truth about the Lord Jesus will not lead us astray. We shall be able to help many others CHECK the narrative, CHOOSE the right narrative, LISTEN more attentively to the true narrative proclaimed so that all FOLLOW the Lord Jesus to the resurrection and eternal life.
