Wisdom 2:12, 17-20; James 3:16-4:3; Mark 9:30-37. In Wisdom, the wicked speak of testing the just one until he sins or until God intervenes. In the second reading, James says that the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace. In Mark’s Gospel, Jesus teaches about his passion, but the disciples do not understand; he then demands humble service of his followers.

Saint Who?
Saint Faustina Kowalska
Religious +1938
“My daughter, be at peace; do as I tell you. You are the secretary of mercy.” Born in Poland around the turn of the 20th century, Faustina gre up in a peasant family. At twenty, with three years of elementary school and several years of experience as a servant, she joined the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy. On the outside, she led an ordinary sister’s life. Inside was a different story.
In her beautiful diary Divine Mercy in My Soul. Faustina recorded the amazing revelations which she received from our Lord. Full of the desire to heal “aching humanity,” Jesus instructed her to promote devotion to his Divine Mercy. The Divinr Mercy image, the feast of Divine Mercy, the practice of praying at the “hour of Mercy” (three o’clock in the afternoon), the litany of Divine Mercy, and the Divine Mercy chaplet are all fruits of Faustina’s prayer.
The chaplet, prayed on rosary beads, was especially recommended for the dying. “At the hour of their death, I defend as my own glory every soul that will say this chaplet; or when others say it for a dying person, the pardon is the same. When this chaplet is said by the bedside of a dying person, unfathomable mercy envelopes the soul.” Faustina died of tuberculosis after thirteen years in religious life.
Father of Mercy, for the sake of the sorrowful Passion of Jesus,
have mercy on all those who are dying.
