Malachi 3:1-4; Hebrews 2:14-18; Luke 2:22-40 or 2:22-32. Malachi prophesies about the coming of the Lord’s messenger and his mission to purify the Lord’s people. The author of the Letter to the Hebrews explains that Jesus shared in our humanity in order to free us from the power of death and intercede for us as high priest before God. In the Gospel, Mary and Joseph bring the child Jesus to present him to the Lord in obedience to Mosaic Law.
La Presentazione del Signore
Malachia 3:1-4; Ebrei 2:14-18; Luca 2:22-40 o 2:22-32.
(Feast of the Purification of Mary),而東方教會稱之為「相遇慶典」(Feast of the Meeting of the Lord),但羅馬教會也有採用這名稱。
Saint WHO?
吳學聖.瑪定 Wu Xuesheng Martinus V 1862 Lay Catechist, Martyr
Saint Martinus Wu Xuesheng, also known as Mading or Martin, was a remarkable layman and martyr in the apostolic vicariate of Guizhou, China.
Born around 1817 in Chuchangbo, Qingzhen, Guizhou, China, he dedicated his life to spreading the Christian faith. Martinus Wu Xuesheng converted to Catholicism and became a catechist, actively evangelizing and sharing the teachings of the Catholic Church with others. He was deeply committed to his mission and played a crucial role in the apostolic vicariate of Guizhou, aiding in the growth and development of the Catholic community in the region.
One of the most notable incidents in Martinus Wu Xuesheng's life occurred when he sheltered Blessed John Peter Neel, another devout Catholic who was being pursued by Chinese authorities for his religious beliefs. Despite the risks involved, Martinus provided refuge for Blessed John Peter Neel, defying the oppressive anti-Christian policies of the time. Unfortunately, this act of bravery and compassion led to Martinus Wu Xuesheng's own martyrdom.
On 18 February 1862, in Kaiyang, Guizhou, China, he was beheaded for his unwavering faith and his courageous efforts to protect his fellow believer. His martyrdom serves as a testament to his unyielding devotion to Christ and the Catholic Church.
Martinus Wu Xuesheng's holiness and sacrifice did not go unnoticed by the Catholic Church. On 2 August 1908, Pope Pius X officially recognized his heroic virtue by decreeing his veneration. Then, on 2 May 1909, Pope Pius X beatified Martinus Wu Xuesheng, acknowledging his martyrdom and honoring his remarkable life. It wasn't until October 1, 2000, however, when Pope John Paul II canonized Martinus Wu Xuesheng as a fully recognized saint of the Catholic Church.
By bestowing this honor, the Church acknowledges his exemplary life, faith, and the ultimate sacrifice he made for his beliefs. While the specific patronage of Saint Martinus Wu Xuesheng is not available, his life and witness continue to inspire Catholics and all believers to remain steadfast in the face of adversity and to stand up for their faith.
Saint Martinus Wu Xuesheng's feast day is celebrated on 18th February each year, a day that serves as a reminder of his martyrdom and the enduring legacy of his faith. His story serves as a testament to the power of love, courage, and devotion to God, and he remains an inspiration to the faithful around the world.—From ‘Saint for a Minute’

OUR JUBILEE YEAR!
Our Centennial Celebration and Jubilee Year has begun! On November 9-10, 2024 we began the 100 Year Anniversary of Saints Peter and Paul Church. What a great weekend! The Masses and the Renewal of Wedding Vows were holy and beautiful; both the Saturday and Sunday receptions were packed; the food was great, and the grace of God touched all! Go here for links to photos and videos.
Remember, though, the Jubilee Celebration is for the whole year—see the indulgence granted to us by the Vatican at left! Let us take this year to gratefully reflect on the gifts given to us by God the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit; to honor those who have come before us, and to preserve our faith and our Church for our posterity! JUBILEE PLENARY INDULGENCE On the Occasion of the Jubilee Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Church. The Apostolic Penitentiary in Rome, charged with the granting of indulgences, has designated Saints Peter and Paul Church in the Archdiocese of San Francisco, California as a Vatican recognized site for Plenary Indulgence and has granted a Plenary Indulgence to the faithful who truly repent and are driven by charity under these certain conditions from November 1, 2024 until November 1, 2025. A Plenary Indulgence may also apply, through the faithful’s own sufferings, to the Souls in Purgatory.
WHAT IS A PLENARY INDULGENCE? An indulgence is a remission before God of the temporal punishment for sin the guilt of which is already forgiven, which a properly disposed member of the Christian faithful obtains under certain conditions with the help of the Church which, as the minister of redemption, dispenses and applies authoritatively the treasure of the satisfaction of Christ and the saints. Code of canon Law (can. 992). A plenary indulgence can be gained only once a day. In order to obtain it, the faithful must, in addition to being in a state of grace, have the interior disposition of complete detachment from sin, even venial sin. You can download a flyer here on how to obtain this wonderful spiritual gift!
