Mary, the Most Holy Mother of God

Numbers 6:22-27; Galatians 4:4-7; Luke 2:16-21. In the reading from Numbers, God gives Moses the blessing that Aaron and his sons are to use in blessing the Israelites. The reading from Galatians reveals how God sent his Son to be born of a woman so that we might all be children of God. In the Gospel, shepherds arrive in Bethlehem after being told by an angel that a savior has been born.

今天我們讚美、感謝天主聖父，因為祂願意祂的聖子降生成人。祂派天使向聖母說：「祂將『從你』誕生。」這是藉着聖神的德能，使瑪利亞受孕，誕生了祂唯一的聖子耶穌。耶穌從她生，實在來自她的血肉，於是救主成了真人，為人類帶來救援。她和耶穌有着親子的關係。又因為耶穌是天主聖子，所以她是肉身成人的天主之母。
耶穌在十字架上對聖母說：「母親」 這是你的的兒子。」！」聖經上說若望把聖母帶到自己家中，愛她、照顧她。耶穌又對若望說：「兒子，這是你的的母親。」耶穌把整個人類交給聖母，她當然把我們看作耶穌的兄弟、她的親子女，愛我們、喜歡幫助我們，喜歡我們親近她。讓我們也像聖若望一樣，把她迎到自己的生活中，請她居住在我們心裏，孝愛她，依賴她、感謝她。學習她，因為她是趨向天主的捷徑，所謂「通過聖母走向耶穌
From the Pastor’s Desk
There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me. What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas? This week, I found out.
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember.
-The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
-Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
-Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.
-The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.
-The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.
-The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
-Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit--Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.
-The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.
-Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.
-The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments.
-The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.
-The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.

Eucharistic Adoration/ Anointing of the Sick: We have Eucharistic Adoration every Friday, following the 7:00 AM Mass. And on the first Friday of the month (this Friday) we have the Anointing following the 7:00 AM Mass.
