Ezekiel 34:11-12, 15-17; I Corinthians 15:20-26, 28; Matthew 25:31-46. In the first reading, the Lord speaks through Ezekiel, telling the people that he is the shepherd caring for his sheep. He provides for all their needs, and will judge between sheep, and between rams and goats. Paul writes to the Corinthians, telling them that as Christ has been raised from the dead, then so too in Christ shall all be brought to life. In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus tells his disciples of the time when the Son of Man shall come in glory and sit upon his throne, separating the sheep from the goats.
From the Pastor’s Desk
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King. Jesus’ disciples and people always called Jesus “rabboni” or “teacher”. In the Gospel of John, Jesus told his disciples, “I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet.” (John 13:14). Jesus only admitted to being king when Pilate asked him directly, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus answered, “You say so.” (Matthew 27:11). So Pilate ordered to install a sign on the cross above Jesus head, “Jesus Christ, King of the Jews.”
This feast day is the last Sunday in Ordinary Time. The Church invites us to reflect on the end of our time when Jesus will come again to judge the living and the dead. Today’s Gospel of Matthew, Jesus makes known, “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, he will sit upon his glorious throne.” (Mt. 25:31-46) Jesus Christ the King, will come again to judge the world. Jesus teaches us the Beatitudes that can lead us to enter the kingdom of heaven. Have we followed the Beatitudes that Jesus gives us? Do we put them in practice in our daily life? Do we reach out to help those who are in need? Jesus tells us, “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40). Last Sunday, the St. Vincent de Paul group of our parish hosted the Thanksgiving dinner for the unfortunate people. Many people came for a hot meal. I was greeting people once they came and left. They were very respectful and polite. I could say that I saw Jesus in them.
Let us together live the words of God closely as Jesus teaches us and hope that when he comes again, we may hear him saying, “You all have done what I told you; come and enter to the kingdom of heaven.”
Have a blessed week!

Sponsor a Student! Are you able to help a student receive a Catholic education? We are receiving more request for financial aid than ever before. The Salesians started by educating the children of the poor and we are not about to stop now—but like Don Bosco before us we need your help! We invite financially able parishioners to help with this ministry. Please call Dr. Lisa Harris at 421-5219 or Fr. Tho Bui at 421-0809.
IMPORTANT! Are you a Registered Parishioner? Do you use Weekly Donation Envelopes? Why is this important? Because if you need to get married or have a child baptized in another parish, you will need permission from your home parish, which means you needs to be registered. And if you ever plan to fulfill the ministry of godparent, you will need not only a letter of permission from your home parish, but also an attestation that you are living in accordance with the faith—at a minimum going to Mass every Sunday. The easiest way for us to affirm that someone attends Mass each Sunday is the use of weekly donation envelopes. We have had the painful duty of having to deny requests for permission to serve as godparents because we had no record of them ever coming to Sunday Mass. Registration forms are on the tables by the entrance to the Church, and 2024 weekly donation envelopes are available on request if you are not already using them.
Archdiocesan Annual Appeal: Our assessment this year is $64,663. You can watch a video showing some of the things your AAA gifts support at www.salesiansspp.org/donations. So far 69 families/parishioners have pledged or donated $49,756 leaving us with a balance of $14,907. If you, can, join the 1% club—give $647! But ALL Parishioners should give SOMETHING! Help us to meet this shared obligation!
