Isaiah 56:1, 6-7; Romans 11:13-15, 29-32; Matthew 15:21-28. The Lord speaks through Isaiah, giving his promise that all who hold to [his] covenant will be brought to his holy mountain. In the second reading, Saint Paul tells the Gentiles that God delivered all to disobedience, that he might have mercy upon all. In the Gospel, a Canaanite woman asks Christ to have pity on her, for her daughter is tormented by a demon. In spite of initial rejection, the woman perseveres in faith and Jesus heals her daughter.

From the Pastor's Desk
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
On September 26, 2021, Pope Francis leading the Angelus, spoke to people at Saint Peter Square, “It is necessary to walk together, without prejudice and without fear, placing ourselves next to those who are most vulnerable: migrants, refugees, displaced persons, victims of trafficking and the abandoned. We are called to build an increasingly inclusive world that excludes no one.” The pope encourages all church communities to open and welcome everyone, especially in their ministries.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus’ disciples ask him to send the Canaanite woman away because she keeps calling for help. Jesus does not listen to his disciples, instead he tests the woman faith. She passed, and her daughter was healed. What Jesus teaches his disciples, and us, is to welcome everyone and reach out to those in need.
Saints Peter and Paul church is located in North Beach area and so many tourists visit this area every day. Last weekend, I met number of visitors who attended Masses and found out that they were from all over the country and even other countries. As you know, our church is open every day Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 3:00pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 7:30am to 6:30pm. Each day, there are many visitors who come to our church. Sometimes Deacon Ed Te offers them a tour of the church. We are proud of the beautiful church and we want visitors be fond of it.
Our church was completed in 1924 and next year, 2024, will be 100 years old. We will celebrate the centennial and continue to welcome many more visitors for years to come.
Have a blessed week!
