Acts 1:1-11; Ephesians 1:17-23 or Ephesians 4:1-1-13 or 4:1-7, 1-13; Mark 16: 15-20. In the first reading, the disciples see Jesus being taken up to heaven on a cloud. In Saint Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he prays that the spirit of wisdom will be given to the audience he is addressing. In the Gospel, before his ascension, Jesus tells his disciples to go out and preach the Gospel to the whole world.
From the Pastor’s Desk
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Last Monday, we celebrated the young Salesian Saint, Dominic Savio. He is a great model for all young people. A brief description about the young saint life:
Dominic Savio was born in 1842 at San Giovanni di Riva, near Chieri, Italy. At the time of his First Communion, which he made at the age of seven, he drew up his plan of life: “I will go to Confession frequently and receive Communion as often as my confessor allows me. I want to sanctify Sundays and feast days. My friends shall be Jesus and Mary. Death rather than sin.”
When at the age of twelve he was admitted by Don Bosco to the Oratory in Turin, he asked the saint to help him to become holy. Gentle, and always happy and serene, he was most assiduous in his duties as a student and in assisting his companions in every way, teaching them about their religion, tending the sick, pacifying contentious wranglers. One day he said to a companion who had just arrived at the Oratory: “Here we make holiness consist in being cheerful. We try only to avoid sin as the great enemy that can steal from us God's grace and peace of heart, and to be exact in fulfilling our duties.” He was most faithful to his program, sustained by an intense sacramental life and a filial devotion to Mary; he was cheerful in his self-sacrifice, and was generously endowed by God with talents and charisms.
When the dogma of the Immaculate Conception was proclaimed on December 8, 1854 by Pius IX, Dominic consecrated himself to Mary and made rapid progress in holiness.
In 1856 he founded the Company of the Immaculate Conception to help his companions in this group apostolate. He died at Mondonio on March 9, 1857. Pius XI called him the “little giant of the spirit”. Pius XII proclaimed him Blessed in 1950 and canonized him on June 12, 1954. He is the patron of the Pueri cantores.
Through the intercession of Saint Dominic Savio, may God bless our young people to live this modern life in holiness.
Happy Feast of St. Dominic Savio!

Mission Appeal: This year’s Mission Appeal is on May 25 & 26, and here is a message from our visiting missionary:Hello friends! My name is Fr. Praveen Mummadi (Fr. Praveen). I am a missionary priest from the Diocese of Kurnool in southern India. Today, I want to share with you the realities, situations and needs of the Catholic faithful in India.
The main challenges of our mission include giving free education to over three-thousand poor children, medical support of the less privileged, self empowerment of women, and evangelization. In India, Christianity is a minority and only 1% of the population is Catholic. We have over one-hundred priests and over three-hundred nuns (sisters) who serve the poor in our diocese. There also are many young men and women who are discerning their call to be future priests and nuns.
We welcome you to participate and learn about Catholicism in our part of the world. We hope you find it to be enlightening and inspiring.
We thank you greatly for your attention and generosity.
Fr. Praveen
