Deuteronomy 8:2-3, 14b-16a; 1 Corinthians 10:16-17; John 6:51-58. In Deuteronomy, Moses reminds the people of how God brought them out of Egypt and through 40 years in the desert. Saint Paul writes of our unity as Christians, for we all partake of the one loaf. Jesus tells the Jewish crowds that he is the living bread that came down from heaven so that eternal life may be found though Him.
SS. Corpo e Sangue Di Cristo

Saint WHO?
St. Thomas Aquinas and Corpus Christi
"O sacred banquet! In which Christ is received, the memory of his Passion is renewed, the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory is given.” Thomas Aquinas, the “Doctor of the Eucharist.” was entrusted to a Benedictine monastery when he was quite young. He was thus formed by the richness of the monastic liturgy, a formation that continued to serve him after he joined the Dominicans.
A brilliant theologian, he took a surprising academic turn when he was moved from bustling Naples to backwater Orvieto. Providentially, Orvieto was where the pope soon moved his court in response to political conflicts. Not only did Aquinas become papal theologian, he was also asked to compose the liturgy of the soon-to-be-established feast of Corpus Christi. His beautiful hymns, simple and profound, are still sung in the Church today. They include Pange Lingua, O Salutaris Hostia, and Adoro Te Devote.
Aquinas’ last words testified to his Eucharistic faith and piety: “I firmly believe and know as certain that Jesus Christ, true God and true Man, Son of God and Son of the Virgin Mary, is in the Sacrament. I receive you, the price of my redemption. For love of you have I studied and kept vigil, toiled, preached, and taught...Never have I said a word against thee.” He died in 1274.
O Bread of Angels, through the intercession of Saint Thomas Aquinas,
may I profess my faith in your true presence until my final breath.
