Our Mission
We, Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) of the Western United States, are an intercultural community of consecrated men. We are called and sent by Jesus Christ to be, like St John Bosco, signs and bearers of God’s love for the young, especially those who are poor and most in need. In collaboration with the Salesian Family and in partnership with laity, we educate and evangelize the young to become “honest citizens and good Christians.”
Originally sent to San Francisco to minister specifically to the Italian immigrant population, we now continue our mandate, as a parish reaching out to others, through youth and family ministry. We also regularly visit and administer the sacraments to the many sick and elderly shut-ins in our parish and beyond.
We are challenged to serve also the significant and growing number of tourists, who visit our church, and the homeless poor in our midst.
